Marco Michael Andretti is a celebrated American third-generation racer who made a booming leap to the prestigious 2006 Indycar series, the firestone Indy lights series . He is also known for impressive performances in various Junior formula series. Marco Andretti participated in the Indy Racing League by driving the number 26 car for the prestigious Andretti-Green Racing. He was born on 13th March 1987 in Pennsylvania, son of racing legend Michael Andretti who himself was the champion in the IndyCar World Series held in 1991 and the grandson of Mario Andretti who was a racing legend during his era. Andretti created a record in the Indianapolis 500 in 2006 by finishing second and thrilling the audience with the second closest finish in the history of auto racing.

Marco Andretti began karting at the age of ten. He took keen interest in karting, the practice immensely helped the young race car driver in his career as an auto racer. Marco Andretti competed in the Stars of Tomorrow karting events and World Karting Association in 2002. He graduated from Notre dame High School in Bethlehem. Andretti made his debut in the world of motor racing, when he was in his high school. Marco bagged eight race championships in the Barber Formula Dodge Eastern Championship in 2003, and was a champion in the Southern class and Barber National in 2004.

Marco Andretti came 10th at the Menards Infiniti Pro Series. Andretti came 16th in his first oval race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the Futaba Freedom 100. Andretti claimed the fifth position in the Star Mazda Championship in 2005. Andretti was honored with Bombardier Rookie of the Year Award in 2006 for his dexterous driving on the motor race track. Andretti became the youngest winner while competing at Infineon Raceway. Marco Andretti started 9th and finished 2nd in 90th Indianapolis 500 and received the honor of Chase Rookie of the Year. Andretti received the "Rising Star Award," an award instituted and given in honor of late racer Tony Renna.

In 2007, Andretti finished eleventh in IndyCar Series. In 2007, Andretti finished second at Iowa and Michigan. Marco Andretti again finished second at the Homestead-Miami Speedway in the same year. Andretti captured the 3rd position at the 2008 Indianapolis 500 Championship. On 22nd June, 2008, Andretti came third at the Iowa Speedway. On 6th July, 2008; Andretti came 5th at Watkins Glen International. On February, 2007, Marco competed in the 2nd Honda Racing F1 test for 2 days in Spain. In March 2008, Andretti drove 12 hour endurance race in the ALMS Sebring for the Andretti Green Racing XM Satellite Radio car.

On 12th July 2008, Andretti competed in the American LeMans race at the popular Lime Rock Park and IndyCar Series race in Nashville. On 4th October 2008, Marco Andretti, Tony Kanaan and Franck Montagny raced at the Petit Le Mans. An incident in the race, retired the number 26 XM Radio Acura soon, with a 16th overall and 7th place finish in LMP2. On 3rd November, 2008, Andretti was reasserted to be racing for the esteemed A1 Team USA at the 2nd round of the A1 Grand Prix season in 2008-09. He was given the chance to race after Andretti Green Racing was disclosed to be taking over the management of A1 Team USA beginning with the 2008-2009 season.
